The Semester preparatory Czech language course is designed for students who plan to study in programmes with Czech as the language of instruction after completing the preparatory course. The concept and content is designed to meet the requirements of entrance examinations, specifically for economic universities or faculties. Graduates of this course will have a very good chance of admission to Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programmes.
In addition to language instruction, students are also educated in subjects that are necessary to successfully pass the entrance exams at the economic faculties of Czech universities, which not only increases the success rate in the entrance exams, but also greatly facilitates orientation during the first year of study. Other subjects include Mathematics, English, Introduction to General Economics, … . The classes are taught by experienced teachers who speak English.
Academic spring semester – 06.01.2025 – 18.05.2025 – 20 hours per week (including 2 hours of introduction to General Economics and 3 hours of introduction to Social Science) + 6 hours of supplementary courses
The second phase focuses on expanding knowledge in all areas of the Czech language (grammar, vocabulary, syntax, conversation, morphology, spelling, stylistics); in addition, students also study pronunciation, colloquial Czech, history and culture of the Czech Republic. In addition, students are also introduced to professional Czech, especially economic lexis, which they will need to pass the entrance exams and to continue their studies at VŠE (reading, listening, analysis and interpretation of professional texts). Students can improve their knowledge of the subjects included in the VŠE entrance exams in additional courses (English, mathematics, other foreign languages).
After every four weeks of study, there is a weekly self-study supplemented by 10 lessons and revision each week. Students complete the course with a final exam and receive a certificate of completion.
Thanks to effective teaching methods, modern audiovisual aids and highly qualified teachers, the completion of the preparatory course guarantees the student (provided that he/she approaches his/her studies responsibly) quality preparation for the entrance examinations (not only for economic studies, but for any university where the applicant must demonstrate adequate knowledge of the Czech language).
