The one-year preparatory Czech language course is designed for students who plan to study in programmes with Czech as the language of instruction after completing the preparatory course. The concept and content is designed to meet the requirements of entrance examinations, specifically for economic universities or faculties. Graduates of this course will have a very good chance of admission to Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programmes.

The course includes 1000 hours of direct Czech language instruction and additional subjects and is preceded by 56 academic hours of online Czech language instruction. This is delivered during July and August to facilitate the start of the course itself in September of the year. This adaptive online part of the course significantly facilitates the students’ confrontation with a completely new language and language environment upon arrival in the Czech Republic.

The program includes a total of 1056 academic hours of Czech language instruction. The high number of the lessons significantly increases students’ chances of success in the entrance exams to Czech university programmes. It is especially suitable for students from countries where a Slavic language is not spoken and where the communication language is significantly different from Czech (e.g., Latin American countries, China, Turkey, Middle East countries, etc.).

In addition to language instruction, students are also educated in subjects that are necessary to successfully pass the entrance exams at the economic faculties of Czech universities. It not only increases the success rate in the entrance exams, but also greatly facilitates orientation during the first year of study. Other subjects include Mathematics, English, Introduction to General Economics etc. The classes are taught by experienced teachers.

Academic Year (direct face-to-face instruction)

(08.09.2025 – 17.05.2026):

Winter Semester

08.09.2025 – 14.12.2025 (14 weeks)

35 academic hours per week (including three hours on Czech Republic facts)

The emphasis is mainly on teaching the Czech language. The aim is to acquire language skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening comprehension), to develop communicative competences and the ability to orientate oneself in everyday communicative situations. Attention is paid to expanding vocabulary and improving the ability to express opinions independently. Students are also introduced to facts about the Czech Republic and to the basics of general economics. At the end of the winter semester, a midterm exam is held.

Summer Semester

05.01.2026 – 17.05.2026 (19 weeks)

35 academic hours per week (including 2 hours of introduction to General Economics and 4 hours of introduction to Social Science + 6 hours of supplementary courses)

The second phase focuses on expanding knowledge in all areas of the Czech language (grammar, vocabulary, syntax, conversation, morphology, spelling, stylistics); in addition, students also study pronunciation, colloquial Czech, history and culture of the Czech Republic. In addition, students are also introduced to professional Czech, especially economic lexis, which they will need to pass the entrance exams and to continue their studies (reading, listening, analysis and interpretation of professional texts). Students can improve their knowledge of the subjects included in the entrance exams in suplementary courses (English, mathematics, other foreign languages etc.).

The programme includes self-study week after each four weeks of study (in winter semester self-study week includes 10 academic hours of revision and practice). Students complete the course with a final exam and receive a certificate of completion.

Thanks to effective teaching methods, modern audiovisual aids and highly qualified teachers, the completion of the preparatory course guarantees the student (provided that he/she approaches his/her studies responsibly) quality preparation for the entrance examinations (not only for economic studies, but for any university where the applicant must demonstrate adequate knowledge of the Czech language).
